With only four days to go, the countdown is on to the Kilkenny Arts Festival 2012! Crew are working across the city to prep the venues and install exhibitions while the festival team are hard at work with all the final details. We are looking forward to welcoming 506 artists and crew who begin to arrive in Kilkenny from Thursday and of course, we are excited about presenting the 39th Kilkenny Arts Festival to circa 20,000 visitors due in Kilkenny from Aug 10-19! SHAKESPEARE'S GLOBE THEATRE performing 'As You Like It'

Whatever you do don't miss the renowned SHAKESPEARE'S GLOBE THEATRE performing in Ireland for the very first time! The famous London theatre company will perform the classic comedy As You Like It across the festival from the 10-19 August and the performances will take place in the stunning surrounds of the Castle Yard once home to the stables and coach houses of the historic Kilkenny Castle. CoisCéim Dance Company performing 'Swimming With My Mother'

CoisCéim – Ireland’s leading contemporary dance company brings their award-winning production of Swimming With My Mother to the Watergate for three performances. Acclaimed director David Bolger is joined by his mother for a touching performance which takes place Saturday August 11 and Sunday August 12. Don't miss breathtaking aerial dance performances with street theatre group Fidget Feet, heartwarming discussions about our relationship with food with Hot Potatoes, high voltage music from the famous Italian Badabimbumband and music and storytelling with Solo Cissokho and Seckou Keita  from Senegal who want to bring you on a journey of African song! Visual Art

Contemplation and reflection are the themes of the day with our inspiring Visual Art strand curated by Josephine Kelliher. Exhibitions include At The Still Point, Hans Op De Beek and Patrick O’Connor. Don't forget the fantastic open submissions taking place in venues around the City and County including Grennan Mill in Thomastown, Mount Juliet Estate in Thomastown and Butler House in Kilkenny. Craft

We have a jam-packed CRAFT strand for you this year. UTENSIL, a group exhibition in the National Craft Gallery, features the exceptional talent of 23 applied artists and product designers based in Europe who present an array of approaches to tableware. There are lots of fun free children’s workshops at the National Craft Gallery and, for the first time, an adult workshop which looks to our personal memories of tea sets. The Hot Potatoes talk, Elbows off the Table, Wednesday August 15 will surely provoke a lively debate about ritual and mealtime memory. A World Class Music Line-Up

We have a world class music line up with three distinct music categories - Classical, Global and WIRED (Indie/Rock). Acts include Mick Flannery, Jape, Le Concert Spirituel, La Morra, Ivo Papasov and his Bulgarian Wedding Band, Matthias Loibner, A Winged Victory for the Sullen and lots more!
