Get Down & Dirty with Archie Bronson Outfit

July 25, 2012

Archie Bronson Outfit

Gritty rock meets electropop on the first Sunday night of this year's Kilkenny Arts Festival as the Archie Bronson Outfit get ready to make a dent in Set Theatre.

Fronted by Sam 'The Cardinal' Windett, The Independent called this London trio's third album, Coconut, a "down and dirty deluge, a primal juggernaut set to squall and surge from the panic-attack psych-rock of the opener onwards..." Drummer Mark 'Arp' Cleveland, Duke Garwood and guitarist Dor Hobday complete the lineup. One of our favourite is track 'Hoola' which you can hear below (disclaimer: turning up the volume on that track may have you reaching for dancing shoes).

Expect anything but the normal with these guys who Mojo reckon are like a melting pot of Captain Beefheart, Queens Of The Stone Age and The Gun Club. Ingredients for a roof-raising night in Kilkenny? Absolutely.

Joining ABO at Set will be Dublin quartet, The Dinah Brand. More soft-spoken than ABO, expect a healthy blend of acoustic and electric sounds from a band who think that songs governed by enigmatic sentiment and songs that long to be films have a place in the present global soundworld.

Don't just take our word for it, check out the clips above and below, crank the volume for Archie Bronson Outfit and if you like what you hear, go grab your tickets online now or by popping into the box office on John Street, Kilkenny or give us a call on 0567752175 to get booking.
