In Video: Laoise O’Brien

August 12, 2011

Laoise O'Brien performed at The Parade Tower on Day 7 of the 2011 Kilkenny Arts Festival, taking a selection of music from How Happy For The Little Birds, her forthcoming CD release that features works by Praetorius, Weelkes, Byrd, O'Catháin, Dowland, Cornysh, Ravenscroft and traditional settings. The programme took the audience through a year in the life of birds, with Laoise joined by some of Ireland's top musicians, including Francesco Turrisi, mixing traditional Irish melodies with early English songs.

The above video sees Laoise performing a solo version of the title track How Happy For The Little Birds, while the below video features the entire ensemble performing Me, Me & None But Me. The full lineup included Laoise O'Brien (recorded), John Feeley (guitar), Sarah Grose (viola de gamba), Niamh McCormack (soprano), Odhran O'Casaide (fiddle) and Francesco Turrisi (percussion).
