Meet Ellen Mandel & Robert Gildon

August 10, 2010

Ellen Mandel and Rob Gildon bring their show To An Isle In The Water to Set Theatre tonight at 10pm and again tomorrow at 1pm, the "old fashioned" performance combining the words of EE Cummings, Seamus Heaney, Yeats and more to Ellen's piano compositions.

As part of our series of ongoing artist interviews throughout the festival, we managed to nab Ellen and Rob (thanks again guys!) in the Festival Hub at Left Bank to find out a bit more on their show and what they'll be getting up to on stage.

We'll have some more catchups with festival artists on the way but for now, see more on To An Isle In The Water.

Ellen Mandel and Rob Gildon with their show To An Isle In The Water to Set Theatre.  I was there on Tuesday nite, it was the best show in town. The singing by Rob Gildon was out of this world, a peace of heaven on earth. Ellen Mandel paino playing was flawless. Together it was soft magic, it was like golden honey on a summers day, it was simple the best.

I did not know what to expect but I was blowen away by the show. If they pass this way again don’t let it pass you by, it will make your life richer, warmer and compleate.

Thanks Rob &Ellen; from a new found fan from Callan, Co.Kilkenny. You were the cream of the arts week, the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.

Love to know when your back in town,

Best wishes

I agree with Catherine above, this performance was one of those rare moments of beauty, peace and delight. The music, together with the poems create an absolutely heartwarming experience of touching deep beauty and warmth. The voice of Rob is perfect for the depth and beauty of this poetry.
A moving gem.
