Preview: Cathal Coughlan & the Necropolitan Quintet
Nearly every Irish music fan will know of Cathal Coughlan's genius.
A tough and uncompromising songwriter, Coughlan is a former member of Microdisney and Fatima Mansions, and no stranger to criticial acclaim.
That acclaim has crossed over into his solo work with The Irish Times describing his 2010 album, Rancho Tetrahedron, as thus:
"Coughlan's mixture of acerbity and dark lyricism is sustained on his fifth solo album and...[his voice] has never sounded better."
High praise indeed.
This show, in the surrounds of The Watergate Theatre, will also allow Coughlan to showcase his extraordinary voice in the company of long-term collaborators, the Grand Necropolitan Quintet.
