THEATREclub, Action Hero Are Coming

August 10, 2010

The boys and girls of THEATREclub (yes, that's how you're supposed to write it - just ask them!) are coming out to play. Or at least one girl and one boy as THEATREclub bring (the second version of) their show, Group Therapy For One, to Cleere's Theatre on Parliament Street, continuing the run of quality lunchtime theatre for the festival.

I'd say "tell all your friends about this one" but it seems like everyone else has beaten me to it with Tom Creed highlighting earlier (and celebrating in chocolately style) that the theatre and dance strand of the festival - the shows that have already been staged - were sell outs.

Maybe that's putting it up to the lads but given the reception the show was given in the wake of last year's ABSOLUT Fringe in Dublin, coupled with performances of their other works, THEATREclub are a group on a serious upwards journey - one that stops in Cleere's from tomorrow for the next five days.

Given we've just passed the half way mark of the festival (or pretty much so by reaching day five, it should also be noted that Action Hero arrived into Kilkenny earlier tonight ahead of opening A Western in Kyteler's at 6:30pm tomorrow. More pub theatre, this time for the evening folk, but if you can make lunchtime and teatime theatre then more power to you indeed!

What's in store for you there? Sure cowboy hats, ketchup and a good old fashioned shootout. Go celebrate the failure of generic heroes, cheap whores and all the American Idol with Gemma Paintin and James Stenhouse.

So yeah - both shows, kicking off tomorrow, one at lunchtime, one at tea time. I missed Victor & Gord, missed Where Did It All Go Right but you'll know where to find me tomorrow. And all that before we get to Susan and Darren...
