The Butler Gallery plays a central role in the cultural life of the city and county of Kilkenny. Through its diverse exhibition programming, important collection, and far-reaching education initiatives, the gallery actively promotes the value of arts to society.

The Butler Gallery exists on site and off site, as a place of interaction between artists and the public – a contemporary space within a non-contemporary setting.  it will exhibit Strand 2 visual art at Kilkenny Arts Festival.
