Caimin Gilmore has performed and recorded with leading artists from a diffuse array of genres, from Crash Ensemble to Teac Damsa, RTÉ Concert Orchestra, Ye Vagabonds, Bernard Butler and Lisa Hannigan.
This open-minded approach is reflected in his work as a composer, and his new composition, BlackGate, is no exception: a genre-hopping piece that embraces many styles from classical to pop, indie and folk. For this world premiere Gilmore is joined by equally versatile musicians Kate Ellis (cello) and Lavinia Meijer (harp) who perform the work alongside other contemporary pieces including a new commission, ‘Flinches’, by Amanda Feery for bass, cello and distortion pedals.
