Crash Ensemble kick off their residency at this year’s Festival with this eagerly anticipated double bill featuring two extraordinary talents: Diamanda La Berge Dramm and Sam Amidon.
A composer, vocalist and violin virtuoso, Dramm creates music that soars across the boundary between classical and alt pop. Chimp, her first album of original material, was released last year to rapturous reviews, earning comparisons with Joanna Newsom, Laurie Anderson and Björk, and for this concert Dramm performs the album in full. Featured alongside Dramm's arrangements are reimaginings of the songs by Barry O'Halpin for Crash Ensemble.
Sam Amidon’s appearance with Crash Ensemble was one of the highlights of KAF 2017, and for the second half of this double-bill, Amidon is joined by a quartet from Crash, the perfect foil for his beautifully crafted Americana.
