The mighty Crash Ensemble returns to Kilkenny for a series of free pop-up concerts in the atmospheric courtyard of Rothe House. Led by the indomitable Kate Ellis, the ensemble performs a selection of works at 1.30, 2.30 and 3.30pm, including the Irish premiere of a major new piece by Northern Irish composer Ed Bennett, a thrillingly modern work for cello, electronics and amplified ensemble inspired by the traditional air Amhrán na Leabhar or ‘Song of the Books’. Be sure to drop by the courtyard to catch a performance and enjoy the intriguing musical interludes interspersed between each concert.
