“a stirring artful and ultimately beautiful suite of stories”
Richard Ford
“Night Music is such an accomplished finely honed collection of stories that it is difficult to believe this is the author’s debut … one of the most impressive collections I have read in a long time.”
Christine Dwyer Hickey

Fergus Cronin’s (winner of the Maria Edgeworth prize for short fiction in 2022) first collection of stories Night Music was greeted with wide acclaim on its publication in April this year. It was described as ‘Funny … sad …sublime’ ( Sunday Independent) and ‘Witty and Clever … an impressive collection by a very talented writer’(The Irish Times)

Donegal singer songwriter Kevin Doherty (also of Four men and a Dog) is renowned for the excellence of his writing and delivery. In a five-star review for The Irish Times, Joe Breen enthused that there ‘are few inventive writers who have such an easy and winning way with melody, and certainly only a handful who have managed to create a signature sound so rich in Americana.’

Kevin’s stirring songs have a particular resonance with Fergus’s stories of loneliness and isolation.

In this evening’s special event music and story weave together creating a sound and wordscape to conjure up a mood capturing the unique qualities of these writer/performers.
