Japanese virtuoso Ichiko Aoba is a uniquely talented vocalist and guitarist whose music sits in a sweet spot between folk, indie, classical, jazz and pop. Since 2010 she has released half a dozen albums, written music for video games, theatre productions and installation art and collaborated with artists as diverse as Cornelius, Mac DeMarco and Ryuichi Sakamoto. But it was her seventh studio album, last year’s Windswept Adan, that saw her music finally receive the international recognition it deserves. For this gig in the Set, Aoba is joined by a quintet of Crash Ensemble musicians to perform fresh arrangements of her delicate, haunting songs. Don’t miss this chance to catch a true original.
