Light Up the Castle, the spectacular audio-visual show projected onto the walls of Kilkenny Castle, has become one of the most eagerly anticipated events in the Festival calendar.
The world is in a weird place right now (and not in a good way), so let’s pit good-weird against bad. This year’s show, Rift, is a stunning new projection that seeks out the warmth, the fun and the good-weird that’s always there, hiding in the dark.
Created by multidisciplinary artist Jack Phelan (who made the castle disappear in his unforgettable 2024 show, Six Sides Sawn), Rift is another playful and endlessly inventive spectacle tearing a weird and wonderful Rift in the fabric of space and time.
Please note: The installation features strobe lighting. Latecomers will not be admitted. Gates open at 10.15pm at the Parade entrance. Wheelchair users are advised to contact the Festival box office beforethe show. See the website for more access details.
