Formerly the Lady Dowagers House, the superb location of Butler House, in the centre of the city, has been associated with the Butler family for 500 years. Butler House has housed exhibitions and workshops as part of Kilkenny Arts Festival for many years. Behind the house lies the charming Georgian garden which was recently restored to its former glory and which hosted the Festival opening party last year.
Parking
There is no parking available at this venue. Please use nearby Market Yard and Ormonde Street car parks.
Accessibility
The venue is wheelchair friendly. Wheelchair access via the Butler House carpark. The paths to the venue are made of gravel, and may not be suitable for certain types and sizes of wheels.

There are two entrances to this garden. The wheelchair accessible entrance is through the Kilkenny Design Centre and across the Castle Yard until you see the arch and ramp below. The second is through the front door of the Butler House Guest Accommodation on Upper Patrick St.
Most of the space here will be for standing only, however, if you are unable to stand for a long period of time, you can arrive early and take a seat around the edge of the garden.
