Rothe House Museum & Garden is an historic house in Kilkenny. It is the only example of an early 17th-century merchant’s townhouse in Ireland. It is the centre for Irish genealogy in Kilkenny. The beautiful garden, open since 2008, is a reconstruction of an early 17th-century urban garden, and has become a very popular garden to visit in Ireland. This beautiful house has played host to a series of talks, lectures and workshops through the years including Seamus Heaney in 1974 and Michael Gordon, the American composer, in 2013.

When you approach the outside of the building, you're looking for an arch that leads through to a courtyard.
You'll enter a courtyard with another arch on the right hand side, bringing you to a second courtyard.
In this courtyard, there's a door on the building in front of you. That's the venue. There'll be a ticket desk outside it and you'll see staff and volunteers with festival t-shirts on. At the table, you can either collect your ticket from the volunteers there, or if you already have your ticket, a volunteer will check it for you.
You get to pick where you sit! You might be in a wooden chair so you may wish to bring a cushion to make them more comfortable.
At events in Rothe House, you can wait until you hear other people clap, so you know if it’s time to clap.
