The Heritage Council brings together a panel of guests to explore the issues raised by Mary Robinson in this year’s Hubert Butler Lecture.
Facilitator Ella McSweeney is an Irish food and farming journalist and reporter. She is presenter of Ear to the Ground and has also worked for BBC and the Guardian newspaper. She graduated from Trinity College, Dublin and is a post graduate student in food policy at City University, London.
Panellists:
Dr Helen Sheridan is an Associate Professor in the School of Agriculture and Food Science at University College Dublin. Her work focuses on farmland biodiversity, farmland habitats and agri-environment scheme measures.
Tom Arnold is a agricultural economist and public policy advisor who has worked for the European Commission, the Irish Department of Agriculture and Food and Concern Worldwide. He was Chief Executive of Concern Worldwide, Ireland’s largest humanitarian agency, from 2001- 2013 and has chaired numerous EU, UN and OECD committees on food policy and agriculture.
Angela Ruttledge is Head of Public Engagement with FoodCloud. Angela is a solicitor with a background in financial, corporate, and commercial law. She served on the council of the Restaurants Association of Ireland and is a member of the board of Fáilte Ireland. Foodcloud is an Irish-founded global nonprofit social enterprise dedicated to reducing food waste and tackling food insecurity by redistributing surplus food to charities and community groups.
