St John’s Priory was founded by the Augustinian Order in the 13th century. In the 16th century it was dissolved under Henry VIII and much of the building destroyed. It remains largely in ruins, but in the 1800s the Lady’s Chapel was restored. Noted for its spectacular windows, it is used today for Church of Ireland services.

This venue is wheelchair friendly. If you require wheelchair seating, please contact the Festival Box Office on +353 56 775 2175.

First, you will enter through the gate located on John Street Lower.

When you get through the gate, you may have to queue. Once you get to the red door, you can either collect your ticket from a table with volunteers at it, or if you already have your ticket, a volunteer will check it for you.

This venue has general seating, so you get to pick where you sit! You will be in a wooden pew. These pews are old, so you may wish to bring a cushion to make them more comfortable.

At music events in St. John’s, there will be times that the music stops, but no one claps. This is called a movement pause. You can wait until you hear other people clap, so you know if it's a movement pause or if it’s time to clap.

This venue does not have toilets. However, there are toilets across the road in Langton’s Hotel. You enter via this door, then ask at reception for directions to the toilet.
